Advanced customization of the smartServer

Zone associations.
Normally the the smartserver shows the relationship of devices using the discovered control hierarchy, so typical a master zone will be displayed on the summary page and zones slaved off this device will be displayed as associated areas. Whilst this clearly shows the control hierarchy, it may cause problems when mapped onto the logical structure of the home, by demoting areas that the user may wishes to view at the summary level. To overcome this the smartserver allows the user to override the discovered relationships.
Example
1. From the setup page , click the 'Change Device Names & Grouping' button.
2. Now select the Zone you wish to promote or demote.
3. Find the drop down list 'Associate with Zone/Area' normally will be automatic, (i.e. as learnt from the system) select the name of the area to display the selected zone under. Alternately the zone can be promote to the summary page by selecting 'None', to revert to system structure simply select automatic.

Zone Grouping and uncontrolled areas.
Additionally zones maybe grouped under a common heading, or phantom zones/areas ( uncontrolled areas ) can be created that are not part of the actual control system.
These uncontrolled areas can contain any of the following.
Lighting control (smartkontrols lighting only) though other system could be controlled via remote switching see monitoring and control points below.

Monitoring and control points
Example
1. From the setup page, click the 'Change Device Names & Grouping' button.
2. At the base of the page click the 'Advanced Customization' button.
3. Enter the name of the area you wish to create and click the 'add' button.

4. Repeat the process for all the area you wish to create.
Note deleting an item from the list will create a gap, that will be filled by the next area that is added. The areas will by default be displayed after the controlled zones of the system, and in the order they are added to the list, they can be restructured by associating them to other areas as before.
Now follow the instructions under the Zone associations heading to place zones within these areas.

Image Links.
Every device has an image link property that can be configured, this allows for linking to ethernet based web cameras, images and other html sources. These work best when the smartserver is on a home network, with a local web server or the network that has an ADSL or other form of permenant connection to the internet. URL 's by their nature tend to have many characters and often for the most part repeat, to compensate for this fact the smartserver has a number of default URL's that can be defined, these are on the main setup page. These default URL's are defined as ##1 to ##4.
Example
1. On the setup page.
2. Enter any default URL strings in the location shown.
3. Click the 'Save setup' button to save the configuration.
4. Now click the 'Change Device Names & Grouping' button.
5. Select the zone.
6. Enter the URL of the resource in the text box, note the use of the ##2 to include the second default URL as part of the full resource location string, also the paths of the default URL are given as a reminder, use the drop down selection to pick the type of resource.
7. Click the 'Save changes' button to save your configuration.

Monitoring and control points.
The seachange system can have additional monitoring points by the use of monitoring modules, certain of these monitor modules have the ability to control switched items directly from the smartserver. The smartserver will automatically detect these modules, determine the input type, analogue or digital, and if the outputs have been configured for remote switching. All analogue monitoring points are displayed as temperature °C, all digital points both inputs and outputs have two state conditional text, this text can be one of fifteen user configurable pairs.

Example
1. From the setup page, click the 'Remote In - Outputs' button.
2. Select the correct monitoring module and channel to be configured.

3. Enter the name for the channel, the zone to associate the point with and the state labels if digital. Only the 'On' or 'true' case can be set the 'Off' is automatically set to the inverse case, also false conditions can be set for the 'On' case to suit inverted status signals. If the conditional text you is not one of the default pairs click the 'Set-up state labels' button, this will bring up the page to enable you to add or change the condition text.

4. Click the 'Save changes' button to save the configuration to the smartserver.
Monitor module type behavior
Monitor type 001 (remote switching of outputs disabled ) and 002
Outputs 1 - 5 displays as condition text, reflects the status of the alarm parameters (configuration parameters C91 - C95), this may not match the state of the relay dependent on latching scenarios.
Monitor type 001 (remote switching enabled)
Outputs 1 - 5 displays as drop down selections allowing remote operation of output channel relay, text reflects the status of the output relay.
All other channels monitor 001 & 002
Input channels 1 - 5 automatic recognition of type analog or digital, all analogue channels displayed as °C and all digital channels as conditional text.
Input channel 6 (common alarm reset input) displays as drop down selection shows status of input with configured conditional text, and allows remote reset of common alarm relay.

Output 6 displays as condition text the state of the common alarm relay.

Alarms via email.
Where the smartserver is connected to a network that has internet access via a permenant link (ADSL) or an automatic dial on demand link such as the Zyxel router/modem combination alarm reporting via email can be enabled.

1. From the setup page, click the 'Advanced setup' button.
2. Enter the mail parameters (example below)

Send alarms to = the recipient of the email.
Alarms from = the account the server uses to send its mail.
WWW Gateway = the address of the Router providing the connection to the internet.
Location of SMTP server = this must be the IP of the mail server not its name.
Port number = typically this can be left at the default of 25.
